I am a trained English language teacher, examiner for one of the world’s most reputable English proficiency exams, and academic editor/copyeditor with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature / Secondary Education and a Masters degree from Temple University in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and millions of years of experience in the United States, Europe, and online. I’m joking–I’m not that old!
I have worked with students of various educational backgrounds from over 65 different countries! I have truly learned so much from my students. I see teaching and learning as a give-take relationship. You get out of it what you also put into it, and I will be with you every step of the way to support you as best as I possibly can.
I am proficient in English, Greek, and German and am currently working on my Spanish, so languages, linguistics, and watching students succeed are my passions. I have worked with international students, refugees, immigrants, and professionals of various sorts that have completely and utterly amazed me with their progress and mind-blowing ideas and innovation.
While you share your love of your country, culture, and perspectives of the world with me, I will help you break out of your shell so that you not only understand the English language but express yourself in speaking and / or writing much more confidently and professionally based on your own individualized needs and goals as determined through a needs assessment during the first lesson.
Learning, especially learning a language, is truly something that requires teamwork on both the part of the instructor and learner, so I won’t make any empty promises as other online teachers are so inclined to do. However, I do guarantee that you will both see and feel measurable and profound improvement in your English and particularly in actually using your English in real ways for your everyday needs. I will also guide you in improving your independent study skills so that you can eventually become more of an autonomous learner. I have even taught students mindfulness techniques in order to better control their anxiety and stress levels.
I love teaching English, and this can be reflected in the feedback that I have consistently received from students who have professed that they truly ever learned to express themselves orally or in writing through their work with me. “You are an amazing teacher,” said a Ukrainian student. “I not only feel confident speaking English because of you, but you also taught me so many other things, such as how to practice mindfulness and about yoga, which I now can’t live without.”
