Hi, I’m Mariangela—though many just call me Maria! I’m the Founder and Managing Director of Mariangela’s English Services. As a passionate English teacher, I’m committed to helping students reach their goals with confidence.

By now, you probably know I’m Mariangela—the Founder and Managing Director of Mariangela’s English Services. I was born and raised in the United States and completed all my education there. Growing up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I have a subtle Philly accent and was lucky to be raised in a bilingual English-Greek household.
I am a trained English language teacher, examiner for one of the world’s most reputable English proficiency exams, and academic editor / copyeditor with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature / Secondary Education and a Master’s degree from Temple University’s high-ranking Graduate Department of Education in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology in Education.
I have extensive experience teaching English to a wide range of learners—immigrants, refugees, international students, and professionals of all ages and backgrounds—across the United States, Europe, and online. I’ve had the privilege of teaching at several Philadelphia-area universities, colleges, adult education centers, and within The Philadelphia School District, from elementary to high school levels. One of the greatest honors of my career has been working with students from over 60 countries around the world—each one teaching me just as much as I taught them.
Aside from the incredible Philly lingo, which I can of course share with you, as well, I deliver superior quality English instruction based on proven, research-driven methods and grounded in neuro-linguistic training with maximum student talking time and engagement so that you are actually using your English and gaining autonomy from our very first lesson together.
